Top 7 detective series set in foreign locales

At the Christian Science Monitor, Colby Bermel named the top seven detective series set in foreign locales.

One entry on the list:
"Yashim the Eunuch series," by Jason Goodwin

The Janissaries were a group of elite soldiers that originated during the 1400s in the Ottoman Empire; however, they became too powerful, so the Sultan ceased their operations. Now, in the year 1836, after a string of brutal murders and theft of valuable jewels, the Janissaries are suspected to be on the rise again, and it’s up to eunuch Yashim Togalu and his associates to put a stop to the crimes.
